The Big Stick

USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is also known as the the “Big Stick” after President Roosevelt’s well-known saying: “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” Her radio call sign is “Rough Rider” named after President Theodore Roosevelt's volunteer cavalry unit during the Spanish-American War.
In 2015 she moved to her new home port at San Diego after completing a deployment in the Arabian Sea, from which she launched 1,800 sorties against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. A wonderful addition to your den or library. |

Marine artist and 20 year veteran Adam Koltz has served aboard several classes of navy ships and merchant vessels. Adam's attention to detail stems from his intimate knowledge of ships and his passion for accuracy. His understanding of the interaction of ships with the natural forces of wind and water gives his images life and vitality. Adam uses pen and ink as well as watercolor, and depicts the vessel on a chart with historical or current significance.
