USS Stockdale DDG-106 is named after Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale (1923-2005). He was awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam war where he was a prisoner of war for more than seven years. Stockdale was Ross Perot's vice presidential running mate in the 1992 general election.
