Giclee Print of Watercolor Painting on Nautical Chart by Adam Koltz
|
The USS Scranton is the second ship to be named for Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was the first ship to be constructed in modular fashion at Newport News Shipyards, whereby no keel was laid, as she was built out from individual hull sections which were assembled piece-by-piece with exacting precision. In 2011 she participated in Operation Odyssey Dawn, launching Tomahawk missiles at Libyan air defenses. |
