USS Guardfish (SSN-612) was the second ship to be named after a fish. She was decommissioned and stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 4 February 1992. She was entered into the Nuclear-Powered Ship and Submarine Recycling Program, and recycling was completed on 9 July 1992.
