Explorer went down in 2007 while on a circuit of Antarctica and the Falklands. The cruise ship was struck by submerged ice, causing significant damage to the hull. All passengers were rescued safely.

His understanding of the interaction of ships with the natural forces of wind and water gives his images life and vitality. Adam uses pen and ink as well as watercolor, and depicts the vessel on a chart with historical or current significance.
